What Happened to CardPool?
CardPool let you buy gift cards at a discount (up to 35% off) and sell your own unwanted cards for close to cash value. It was a genuinely useful service for a while. As of this rewrite, though:
Put together, that’s a discontinued service, not a temporary outage. We’re leaving this page up honestly rather than pretending the $5 deal still works.
The discounted gift-card marketplace category has genuinely thinned out over the past few years — several of the sites we used to recommend alongside CardPool are gone too. Here’s what’s actually still standing:
- cardpool.com’s DNS is a dead end — the domain is still registered, but it isn’t configured to serve a working website.
- Our old referral tracking link (refer.cardpool.com) doesn’t resolve at all.
- There’s no CardPool app listed in the App Store anymore.
- CardCash is alive and operating — a real marketplace for buying gift cards below face value (savings run anywhere from a couple percent to 20%+ depending on the brand) and selling ones you don’t want. Honest caveat: we don’t currently have a working affiliate or referral link for CardCash either, so we can’t offer you an instant bonus through us — sign up directly at cardcash.com and check your account for their own “Invite Friends, Earn Rewards” referral terms.

No. CardPool’s site doesn’t resolve, our referral link is dead, and there’s no CardPool app in the App Store — the service appears discontinued. We couldn’t find a way to access the old $5 deal anymore.
What’s the best CardPool alternative right now?
CardCash is the closest working alternative — same basic model (buy gift cards below face value, sell ones you don’t want), and it’s confirmed alive. We just don’t have an affiliate bonus link for it at the moment.
Did CardPool get acquired by another company?
