Our Original Hands-On Notes (Historical)
The comparison below is from our original testing, kept for context — prices and ownership have since changed (see the current-status section above), but the side-by-side feel notes are still a useful reference point.
We started with Leesa. Both of us (a side sleeper and a back sleeper) were sold immediately — great first impressions, refreshed mornings. About two weeks in, the side sleeper started getting real back pain, while the back sleeper kept sleeping fine. Takeaway: Leesa leaned better for back sleepers than side sleepers, for us.
Helix came next, with its take-a-quiz customization (including splitting firmness by side of the bed). It held up well over time and worked better for the side sleeper specifically. Between the two, Helix won for our household.
Last was the Nest Bedding Love Bed — skeptical name, unexpectedly great mattress. Soft enough to feel cloud-like without ever getting sore, and it worked for both sleep styles in our household. It became (and stayed) our top pick, and it’s the mattress we actually kept using long-term.
We also picked up an Endy later on — the cheapest of the bunch, and still solid for both sleep styles, if a step down in plushness from the Love Bed.
