Dash was one of the first “pay your restaurant bill from your phone” apps, and by the time we originally wrote this page it had already merged into a similar app called Reserve — so the trail doesn’t end with Dash, it continues through two more shutdowns:

Three straight dead ends — Dash, then Reserve, then Velocity — is about as clear a “this category shut down” signal as we’ve seen. None of D4582, Reserve’s old EJ4HOF code, or Velocity’s DINEOUT1 code have anywhere left to be redeemed.

  • Reserve absorbed Dash, then stopped offering its own promo code entirely — that’s stated on Reserve’s own still-live page, and the Reserve app itself is no longer listed in the App Store at all.
  • Reserve’s page pointed people to Velocity as its replacement. Velocity — a UK-based restaurant-payment app that had itself acquired the similar app Cover in 2015 — pivoted away from restaurant payments entirely and rebranded as Velocity Black, a luxury concierge membership service. Capital One bought Velocity Black in 2023 for $265 million and folded it into Capital One Travel and Dining. There’s no consumer restaurant-bill-splitting app left anywhere in that lineage.
