Why Reddit-Sourced Codes Are Risky Right Now
Crowd-sourced referral codes have an obvious problem: nobody’s updating them when a program changes. A code posted on Reddit two years ago might have been perfectly valid then and be completely irrelevant now — either because the poster’s link expired, the platform changed its code format, or, in Cake DeFi’s case, the entire deposit mechanism got suspended. That’s exactly what happened here: 330811 was a real code we used, but our active link has since moved to 548573, and as of April 2026 neither one can do anything, because Bake isn’t accepting new crypto deposits.
The lesson generalizes past Cake DeFi: before using any referral code you found on Reddit, check whether the page it’s attached to has been updated recently, and whether the underlying program is still even running.
Cake DeFi rebranded to Bake in June 2023. GS Technologies Ltd acquired the platform in December 2024, and founders Julian Hosp and U-Zyn Chua are no longer involved. On March 28, 2026, Bake announced that crypto-asset trading and deposits would be suspended starting April 15, 2026, indefinitely, while it works toward a MiCA license in Poland. Withdrawals continue as normal, and existing crypto balances were converted to USD at the suspension date — but there’s no new-deposit path right now, which is what any referral bonus, ours included, depends on.
