Is Bird Still Around?
Yes — Bird went through a bankruptcy restructuring in late 2023, and the brand and app now operate under new ownership (the current site’s copyright reads Blue Jay Transit, Inc.). Bird’s own site says it’s running in 100+ cities. So this isn’t a dead-brand situation like some of the other old scooter startups — it’s a discontinued-feature situation. The company survived; the invite-a-friend credit program from our original post did not, as far as we can tell.
Two things point to that: Bird’s current site has no referral, invite, or gift-credit link anywhere in its navigation or footer, and the gift-link URL our own affiliate link points to now shows a bare “Download the app” page with app store buttons and nothing about a code or ride credit. Historically this page carried a few different codes over the years (MOKWP, and older ones like KEXZW and DLMVQ) — we’re keeping the one on our own promo image, but we can’t verify any of them still work.

How to Try the Code Anyway
Download the Bird app through our Bird link (this is the current, official app).
Open the app and go to the Payment or Wallet section.
Code: MOKWP
Look for an “Enter Code” or “Redeem Code” field.
Enter MOKWP and submit.
If nothing happens, that matches what we found — the program looks discontinued.

A Working Alternative: Lyft
If you want a currently-verified sign-up incentive for getting around town, Lyft operates rideshare as well as bikes and scooters in a number of cities, and we can currently verify its invite bonus through our Lyft link.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bird still in business?
Yes. Bird went through bankruptcy in late 2023 and now operates under new ownership, currently serving 100+ cities according to its own site.
Does Bird still have an invite-a-friend credit program?
We couldn’t find one. There’s no referral or invite link anywhere on Bird’s current site, and our own affiliate link now leads to a plain app-download page instead of a referral offer.
Does the code MOKWP still work?
We can’t confirm that it does. It’s a legacy code from when Bird’s referral program was active; given the program appears discontinued, don’t count on it crediting your account.
What’s a good alternative to a Bird referral credit?
Lyft is one we can currently verify has an active invite bonus, and it covers rideshare plus bikes and scooters in many of the same cities.
