What Filld Was

Filld was an on-demand gas delivery service based in the San Francisco Bay Area: you’d leave your car parked with the gas cap unlocked, place an order in the app, and a Filld driver would come fill your tank while you went about your day. It was one of a handful of similar startups in that era (alongside Los Angeles-focused apps like Purple) betting that people would pay a premium to skip the gas station entirely.

Here’s what we found checking on it today: filld.com no longer hosts anything related to gas delivery — it redirects through a couple of hops to a completely unrelated payday-loan lending site. A search of the App Store for “Filld” doesn’t turn up the original gas delivery app either; the only similarly-named result is an unrelated app from a different developer. The most recent snapshot of filld.com in the Wayback Machine dates to August 2024, well over a year stale. Taken together, that’s a strong signal the on-demand consumer service has wound down — we couldn’t find any evidence of an active fleet or B2B pivot under the Filld name to point you to instead, so we’re treating this as discontinued rather than guessing.

On-demand delivery-to-your-parked-car gas apps have largely disappeared — Filld’s old LA counterpart, Purple, also no longer has a working site (its old domain is now just a parked page).
